People tend to believe things that are shown to them and a human brain works in a way where we do not think of getting to the depth of the matter and beliefs. This has lead to the birth of many self-proclaimed Godmen and Godwomen.

Here, in this article, we are sharing some of the worst controversies that the Indian gurujis have got involved in.

These are the cases that have been reported in the media and some of the gurujis (godmen) have faced punishments as well.

Asaram Bapu

He has over 425 ashrams and more than 50 gurukuls all over the world. He has tremendous following both in India and aboard, but he was involved in a controversy reported by the ministry of corporate affairs which stated that they had received complaints against him and his son in an alleged 700-acre land-grabbing case; and the serious frauds investigation office is looking into the matter. Apart from this, he was also accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl at his Jodhpur ashram.

Chandraswami

This Godman has been accused of several financial irregularities and he was ordered by the Supreme Court to pay a penalty in several Foreign Exchange Management Act violation cases that have been registered by the enforcement directorate. He was also imposed with a penalty of Rs 9 crore in 13 cases of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act violations as well!

Jayendra Saraswati

This Kanchi seer and his junior Vijayendra were reported to be the prime accused in the murder of Sankararaman, the manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple at Kanchipuram, in September 3, 2004.

Radhe Maa

This self-proclaimed Godwoman has been making the news since she made her first appearance as a spiritual lady. She changed the way of how a spiritual leader should be by her bold get-up. There are many pictures of her doing the rounds on the internet where she is seen wearing a red short dress. These pictures are enough to shock her devotees.

Nirmal Baba

This self-proclaimed Godman had suffered from a major loss in his business ventures that it lead him to attain nirvana and since then he came to be known as Nirmal Baba. He faced legal complications for his ashram's fraudulent activities for charging exorbitant sum of money from many people in the name of solving problems with his self-proclaimed divine powers.
