Avoid Getting Up Late
It is believed that sleeping for long hours does not please the Goddess, and the divine blessings of Goddess Laxmi get blocked. Hence, one needs to ensure that he/she wakes up early, especially during this time of the year to please the Goddess and increase the chances of becoming prosperous.

Avoid Indulgence In Fights
Ensure that you do not fight with your friends and family during the Diwali time. Be sure that you have a positive atmosphere in the house and everyone is cheerful and happy around you.

Avoid Drugs
It is said that one needs to avoid using any kind of a drug during this period, as goddess Laxmi is believed to get furious. It is better that one stays away from this mess for not only this period but for the other times as well.

Must Do Puja At This Time
Instead of performing pujas at any given point, it is said that the best time to conduct a puja that wards off the "evil eye" from your life should be done so from 23:30 to 2:30 AM on the night of Diwali.

Pujas To Avoid The Evil Eye!
Apart from avoiding the things that can make the goddess furious, there are certain things that need to be religiously followed. One can do the puja to ward off the evil eye, in which the family member or the person who is going through a lot of problems, has to do this. Take some red chillies and encircle them around the troubled person, while he is sitting, for 7 times. It is believed that by doing so, the person would be relieved of the problems and the evil eye.

The Bonfire
When the puja to ward off the evil eye is done, one needs to put chillies in a bonfire and not turn to look back at the fire. This is generally done to avoid irritation caused in your eyes. This is considered better to be done in a secluded place.
