Woman Hockey Player Now Miss Asia-UK!

It must have been easy for a sportsperson hailing from the background of woman hockey fields to juggle up a catwalk but she did and won. That is a true show of gumption and courage that needs to be appreciated on Women Day 2012. The lady in question is Pahrnia Parsons who entered the contest for Miss Asia-UK this year with no higher hopes than spiking her ex boyfriend.
But as they as, hell hath no fury worse than a woman scorned. Pahrnia Parsons claims to be one of those tomboyish girls from childhood. Someone who refuses to play with dolls, believe in fairy tales and feel proud of wearing flowing frocks. The kind that we sometimes call 'manly girls'. However, this woman hockey player who was happy in her trainers and sweatshirts has moved over to the other side (heels and dresses) quite easily.
She apparently had a painful breakup with her ex (not being a glam doll could have been the underlying reason for it). Her only ambition at that point was to teach him what a fool he was to let her slip. But what began with revenge ended in glory as Pahrnia Parsons won the beauty pageant hands down.
Just imagine, she is studying Sports Science in the University of Kent, is a woman hockey player for her university team and she ends up walking on the ramp! Apart from being a woman hockey player she is also a champion skier and snowboarder so the surprises just don't end.
Right now Pahrnia Parsons is supposedly taking her modeling career seriously because she is in line for the Miss England title (being half Iranian she has entered Miss Asia-UK). She is in fact using her new found status as beauty queen to raise charity money for the Lady Diana Hospital!
It is about time we stop running behind every other half famous celebrity to know what Women's Day should be all about. It is the stories of real women like these that should make Women's Day 2012 a day worth celebrating.
