Gone are the days when we were born and died in the same house. Most of us are pretty 'mobile' these days. We change jobs and move base from one place to another very frequently. Moving houses is probably the most painful experience of modern living. However, if you can manage to pack and then do the unpacking smartly, then you would be saving lots of time and efforts.

Here are some tricks to do your unpacking smartly while moving your house. Be intelligent about packing so that everything falls into place.

Make a mental map: You can do nothing without planning. If you get hassled and start unpacking things randomly then you will end up in a heal of things that you do not know where to place. So, sit down, relax and take a deep breath before you start. Now think about where to place what. It is essential for you to know exactly what thing you have.

Moving Furniture: Ask the helpers you get from the movers and packers to place the furniture exactly where you want it to be. Moving the furniture around the house is one of the toughest jobs. You have to do while moving houses. So decide exactly where you want to set your furniture and unpack it there. For example, if you want to keep the refrigerator in the kitchen then unpack it there itself.

Set a priority list: Unpack what is absolutely necessary first and then move on to the next important thing. Pick a room and set it up completely, then move on to the next room. For example, eating is a basic necessity, so the first thing you need to do is set up your kitchen. Unpack all the things for your kitchen first. It should include the gas oven, the microwave, blender, crockery, cutlery, food containers and everything else.

One box at a time: All your belongings are packed into boxes when you are moving your house. Never open up all the boxes at once. Attack one box at a time and unpack everything from that box. Then move on to the next one.

Dismantle things: Some huge pieces of furniture need to be dismantled for moving houses. If you feel that a particular thing does not fit well with your new house, then leave it in the dismantled state; it is easier to stow away in pieces. Store all unimportant things in alcoves and store room without unpacking them.
