Know how eating nuts helps reduce the risk of weight gain and obesity.

In order to reduce weight many people make this mistake of skipping meals and going for rigorous workouts. But as a matter of fact, having a healthy diet is very important if you want to reduce the risk of obesity.

A recent study published in the European Journal of Nutrition has found that people who include nuts in their diet are more likely to reduce weight gain and lower the risk of overweight and obesity.

According to the research, nuts like almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, walnuts and peanuts help to reduce weight and lowers the risk of obesity.

For the study, the team evaluated diet and lifestyle data from more than 373,000 individuals from 10 European countries between the ages of 25 and 70 years.

During the course of the study, the researchers found that people who ate nuts not only had less weight gain than their nut-abstaining peers, but they also enjoyed a five per cent lower risk of becoming obese.

Many people assume that nuts an energy-dense, high-fat food are not a good choice for individuals who want to lose weight. But the findings, however, contradict that assumption.

Researchers found that nuts are rich source of energy, good fats, protein, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. "Eat nuts during your meal. Put them at the center of your plate to replace animal products. They're very satiating," Joan Sabate, Senior Investigator & Director at the Loma Linda University in California, US.
