Surprising Conditions That Can Make You Gain Weight
Weight gain can be caused by a number of factors. This article lists certain surprising conditions that can make you gain weight.
Have you been gaining weight recently? You have been eating the same type of food, following the same exercise regime and leading the same lifestyle. Yet you are gaining weight. What could be the reason? Here are some surprising reasons why you can end up gaining weight.
The birth control pill causes weight gain, in most cases. Studies revealed that nine out of ten women experienced weight gain while they have been on the pill. Medicines for high blood pressure level and diabetes mellitus can cause you to put on weight also. Drugs like antidepressants and steroids are the causes as well.

Stress can end up causing weight gain. Stress increases your cortisol level which shuts down your metabolic process, so you have a difficult time to convert your fat into energy. So, if you are constantly nerve-racking, hey! slow down and take it easy.

If you continuously do not get sufficient sleep, it will cause you to put on weight. So how much sleep you get will determine how much weight you put on. This depends on the hormones i.e. ghrelin and leptin, which impact your appetite, the creation of which depends upon how much you sleep.

Smoking slightly increases your metabolic process as it burns off nearly two hundred calories each day as nicotine is a hunger controller. The first few months after you stop smoking, a slight gain in weight is normal.

Weight gain also occurs when you start suffering from hypothyroidism. Fat increase is a classic symptom as your metabolic process slows down; therefore, you will not be able to melt away fat as effectively as before.

In case your doctor validates the hypothyroidism, then it is better you deal with it first based on your doctor's prescription; then try to tackle the problem of weight gain.

People who suffer from pain when they have conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia and sciatica tend to gain weight as these people tend to move around less and do not sleep well due to the pain that they suffer from.
