Arijit Singh India Tour 2027: First Concerts After Playback Exit
Arijit Singh announced a nine-city India tour on 5 October, little more than eight months after telling the world he was done with film singing. The Arijit Singh India tour 2027 opens in Ahmedabad on 9 January and concludes in Hyderabad on 15 May.
It is his first major nationwide tour since he announced he would no longer accept new playback singing assignments, and the news has reached fans who had feared the stage might go quiet along with the studio.
Not a goodbye, just a change of stage
On 27 January, Singh posted a New Year message that few saw coming. He said he would not take up any new assignments as a playback vocalist, a decision that sent shockwaves across his fan base. His words were short and unadorned: "I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey."
He gave no reasons, but he did add a clarification. "Just to be clear that I won't stop making music," he wrote.
Previously recorded and unfinished songs would continue to be released. The tour now gives his next phase a public face.
Nine cities, five months
The tour marks 20 years in music and is produced and promoted by Team Innovation. The dates:
- 9 January: Ahmedabad
- 23 January: Chandigarh
- 7 February: Jaipur
- 20 February: Mumbai
- 13 March: Bengaluru
- 27 March: New Delhi
- 10 April: Pune
- 1 May: Indore
- 15 May: Hyderabad
The run is billed as his biggest India tour to date, spread across five months and covering the north, west, south and centre of the country.
From a reality show to a stadium runway
The scale of the tour makes more sense against the arc of the career behind it. Singh first appeared on reality television in 2005 on Fame Gurukul, then spent years on the margins before his playback debut with "Phir Mohabbat" in Murder 2 in 2011. The breakthrough came with "Tum Hi Ho" from Aashiqui 2 in 2013, after which he became Bollywood's most relatable voice, recording across Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Telugu.
In July last year, he became the most-followed artist on Spotify globally, overtaking Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran with over 150 million followers. He also performed to a sold-out crowd at London's Wembley Arena.
That reach is the context for a stage built to carry it.
Built for closeness
The concerts will use a custom multi-tiered stage with an extended runway, along with panoramic screens, LED fixtures, 360-degree spatial audio, lasers and pyrotechnics. The production is designed for stadiums and large venues, and the runway is meant to take him deep into the crowd for closer sightlines from every section.
The official setlist has not been revealed, but fans can expect songs from different phases of his two-decade career, with "Tum Hi Ho", "Agar Tum Saath Ho" and "Vida Karo" highlighted around the announcement.
Singh, who has often shunned the spotlight away from the stage, kept his own comment simple. "Two decades of music is a journey I feel very grateful for," he said, adding that the greatest part had always been the listeners.
How to book Arijit Singh concert tickets
Tickets will be sold exclusively through thumpN. The schedule is staggered:
- 10 October, 12 pm, to 11 October, 2 pm: Kotak Solitaire Visa Credit Card pre-sale
- 11 October, 12 pm, to 13 October, 2 pm: all-Kotak Visa Credit Card pre-sale
- 13 October, 2 pm: general sale opens
Demand for a nine-city run of this size is likely to be heavy, so fans planning to attend may want accounts ready before the pre-sale windows open.
What the tour says about his next chapter
Reading his exit as an act of withdrawal missed the point. Dawn observed at the time that his statement hinted at a wish to be an artist again, without the machinery of film schedules and marketing strategies. A tour built around his own catalogue, performed on his own terms, fits that reading.
