These Foods Are Really Good For Your Heart
Foods that are good for the heart are foods which are full of antioxidants, B vitamins, nutrients, fibre and monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. The key to having a healthy heart is to follow a whole foods diet which only means to eat food in its natural kind, the less processed the better.
Heart healthy foods include minerals and vitamins, particularly antioxidants and vitamins E and C that shield cells from free radical damage. B complex vitamins, especially vitamin B6 and folic acid protect against hardening of the arteries and blood clots. Vitamin B3, known as niacin helps to increase high density lipoprotein levels in the blood and lower low density lipoprotein levels in the blood.

Foods that are good for the heart include omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines that are beneficial for the heart. Almonds contain good fats that keep levels of cholesterol in check and are also a good source of vitamin E, protein and fibre. Flaxseed is an excellent plant source for omega-3 fats and fibre.
Heart healthy foods include vegetables like asparagus, beans, etc. Asparagus is a good source of beta carotene and lutein, B vitamins, folic acid and fibre. Beans are saturated in fibre and B vitamins which can keep the heart healthy.
Broccoli is a great source of beta carotene, vitamins C and E, fibre and folic acid. Red bell peppers are high in beta carotene, lutein, fibre, folic acid and B vitamins.
Foods that are good for the heart include fruits. Papaya is high in carotenoids, beta carotene, lutein, antioxidants, vitamins, folic acid and magnesium. Berries are saturated in flavonoids, beta carotene, lutein, polyphenols, fibre, minerals and vitamins that are ideal for heart health.
