There are several herbs in Ayurveda that are believed to have exceptional health benefits and are being widely used as a medicine since ancient times.
One such herb is Gotu Kola, which is scientifically known as 'Centella asiatica' that has numerous health benefits.
The Gotu Kola grows mainly in the wet marshy regions and is found commonly in the Indian subcontinent, China, Sri Lanka, Africa and across Asia.

All the major parts of the plant - the flower, the stem and the leaves are used for its medicinal properties. It bears tiny pink and white flowers. Moreover, the extracts from these parts are also used to prepare creams, gels, ointments and capsules.

2. Helps In Healing Wounds:
One of the most important content in Gotu Kola, known as triterpenoids, is widely known for its wound-healing properties. This chemical helps to boost the antioxidants in the wounds, which in turn help increase the blood supply to the area surrounding the wounds. It is applied externally on the skin that has sustained minor burns or for scars that have been left following surgeries and is also used for reducing stretch marks.
