Causes Of Mental Issues In Women
A women's life is more challenging than men when it comes to work and family life. She has to manage everything starting from official work to household chores. She manages kids, her husband and her in-laws as well. She keeps that beautiful smile always on her lips, that rarely reaches to her eyes.
All women are gifted with abundant patience and love. However, after all she is a human and can face many heath issues especially mental one.
There are many reasons behind mental health issues in women such as low self esteem in somewhat male dominated society. She has to look perfect and make others feel good and it does not end just here.
A woman is a common target for mental and physical abuse. Widowed and divorced women face financial crisis, this is also a reason for mental problems among women in India.
There are some medical reasons also such as hormonal imbalance during menopause, perimenopause (before menopause), pregnancy, post pregnancy and other women health issues that also contribute to mental issues in women.
Women are more prone to mental health issues as compared to men. Women from age 35 to 40 onwards are more vulnerable to get depressed and feel empty.
Dangerous Home Remedies To Avoid
A research has shown that 30 percent of women in India have been diagnosed with mental issues and the figure is going up. It is also seen that millions of cases of women depression are unreported and untreated.
Lets have a look at some of the causes of mental illness in women.

Stress
Women suffer from more stress than men and it has been proven by scientists that stress causes acute chemical changes in brain causing depression in women. For which they have to go for life long treatment.

Abortions
A research has shown that the women who has a history of abortions have double the risk of mental health problems. A study has also showed that every one in ten of mental health problems are because of abortions.

Menopause
This is one of the most common reason in women for getting depressed. It causes hormonal changes which brings with it some physical and mental changes such as hot flashes, dry skin, osteoporosis and mental changes such as mood swings, feeling agitated, irritated and eventually falling the victim of depression or other mental issues.

Depression
A research shows that one in four women suffer from depression as compared to one in ten men. Women are more susceptible to suffer from depression due to many reasons such as pre-natal depression, depression during and after pregnancy, poverty, isolation and hormonal changes.

Phobias
Phobia is a kind of mental condition in which there is a fear of unknown. A person suffering from phobias may get irritated, agitated and suffer from hatred. Phobia is a vast mental condition and will vary from person to person. Women are more prone to suffer from this and is one of the common mental health issues in women.

Post Trauma Stress
Mental health of women in India is not in a good shape. Since women easily fall prey to physical abuse and mental torture and they suffer from trauma or mental shock. Even after recovering from trauma they may suffer from many mental issues such as phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. This is called as post traumatic stress.

Suicidal Attempts
Women attempt suicides three to four times more often than men. There are more suicidal tendencies in women that needs to be taken care of. Since a social stigma is attached to visit a psychiatrist, so women avoid their mental issues and in advanced stage of depression get these suicidal tendencies.

Eating Disorders
This is all related to mental health. Depression in women can lead to binge eating, eating more sugary foods, rich in oils and carbs. While other women suffer from anorexia nervosa, this is a mental condition in which there is a fear of eating and it just start from a simple dieting, then women get obsessed with their weight loss. A research shows that more than 85 percent of women suffer from anorexia.

Social Cultures
Women has not been given the power, position and status as she deserves. India has now been advanced in science, technology and also nuclear power but the plight of women remains the same even in this modern society. This is one of the cause of women facing mental issues.
