The Costume Institute Benefit will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6, this year. Before the main event, the red carpet walks will begin at 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on E! as well as streamed on Vogue's website and social media accounts.

Chief curator Andrew Bolton of the Costume Institute is in charge of organizing the museum's yearly spring fashion exhibition, which frequently serves as an inspiration for the Met Gala's topic and dress code. According to a press statement about the exhibition, Bolton stated, "The show aims to reconnect with the works on display as they were originally intended-with vibrancy, with dynamism, and ultimately with life," The show will appeal to the widest possible range of human senses."

The theme for the evening is "The Garden of Time," which will showcase the conflict between the historical significance of fashion and the transient nature of physical clothing in the show. Although it's safe to assume that flowers will be a recurring motif on the Met Gala red carpet this year, the evocative theme provides plenty of space for guests' interpretations!

Met Gala 2024 Co-Chair

The Vogue editor-in-chief and Costume Institute trustee Anna Wintour has co-chaired the Met Gala since 1995. Over the nearly thirty years since her debut, she has supported the celebrity co-chair, contributing to the event's star-studded atmosphere. The prominent faces who co-chair the event divide up the hosting responsibilities, such as assisting with guest list creation, selecting the evening's meal, and contributing ideas for the décor.

Amal Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Serena Williams, and Rihanna have all served as co-chairs in the past. Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth are this year's co-chairs; Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of the clothing line Loewe, and Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of TikTok, will act as honorary chairmen.
