4 Reasons We Catch Cold In Summer

Summer is the time to have chilled drinks and enjoy the cool breeze from the air conditioning. Summer is also the time to enjoy your time in the swimming pool or enjoy some rain dancing. These activities are mainly enjoyed in summer because you don't have the fear of catching cold. But did you know that you can get a cold in summer too? In fact, despite it being so hot outside, it is common for people to catch a cold in summer.

Children are especially prone to catching summer colds because they go overboard with enjoying the summer activities and binge on too many ice creams or cold drinks. Treating summer colds is not very difficult. However, it would be much better if you knew the reasons when you can actually catch a summer cold. This can prevent you picking up cold infections during the warm weather.

Reasons We Catch Cold In Summer

Excessive Sweating
When you sweat excessively, you tend to wet your clothes. And this makes your body damp for a long period of time. This can make you catch a cold very quickly.

Heat Strokes
Sometimes, when you are out in the blatant heat of the sun, you do not realise that you are exposing yourself to more heat than your body can take. Getting too hot can also make you get fevers and chills. This is usually called a heat stroke or summer chills.

Heat And Cold
When you come from the scorching sunlight and enter an air conditioned space immediately, you are exposing yourself to alternates of extreme heat and cold. This does not give your body the time to adjust to its thermostat properly. Alternates of extreme heat and cold are also causes of catching cold in summer.

Drinking Cold Water/Drinks
Your body does feel hot but your throat remains susceptible to cold things. So your body might crave for cold water, but it is still not good for your throat. And it is only in the summer that you drink chilled drinks putting yourself at the risk of throat infections.

These are some of reasons why you can get a cold even in summer. Treating summer colds is more difficult as compared to winter colds. In fact, people catch cold in summer much more easily than they do in winter.
