Stop That Nauseous Feeling

Staying away from home surely thought me one particular lesson, that the home-made food is the best, even better than the cuisines offered at the top most restaurant in the world. Having to survive on the P.G food, cafeteria lunch and with minimal cooking options, the 2-minute Maggie noodles is my sole savior. The true reason of my outburst is my frequent illness due to bad eating conditions and of course habits, owing to myself on the personal level. Result-Nausea due to food poisoning.

'Nausea'-the word itself spells illness and gives a sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach. So, what are the basic causes of Nausea? The foremost being indigestion due to irregular eating, food poisoning, the stomach flu and pregnancy. Though the causes are quite a few there are certain precautions and simple cures that can fix up the problem in no time. You do not necessarily need to visit a doctor, the simple preparations prevail in your home kitchen itself.

To start with, a small piece of ginger, fresh or pickled usually helps to subside Nausea. You can pop in a few pieces or brew it with tea, add honey or milk and voila! you have a fine beverage to ease that sinking feeling. In case Nausea is caused by food poisoning, it is important to neutralize the affect. Charcoal tablets that can be bought from any health food stores can be taken in case of vomiting to ensure absorption of harmful agents due to food poisoning.

Peppermint or spearmint tea are very efficient in soothing nausea. You can also use peppermint oil as an aroma therapeutic cure. Lemon is perhaps the oldest remedy for nausea, simply smelling a freshly cut lemon can be reliving. Lemon juice mixed with warm water and sipped slowly works wonders, other liquids like broth, warm milk or tea also help calm the upset stomach.

Whatever may be the home remedy, prevention still remains the best of all cures. Avoid wrong eating habits, make sure your food intake includes plenty of fresh fruits and well-washed veggies. Drink good quantity of clean water and be sure to eat well-balanced meal that includes pineapple, papaya and acidophilus - the friendly bacteria in yogurt. Avoid dairy products, half - cooked meat and fish, beans and most importantly junk food. Develop healthy eating habits like having your meals at the right time and in the right quantity, as the brain receives the 'I am full' message from the stomach only 20 minutes after it actually is. Chewing of food is vital as the major part of the digestion takes place in the mouth itself thus, helping out the stomach in its ordeal. Lastly, be a sensible eater, even if you are a foodie, be sure to know where to apply the brakes, that way you will never go wrong.
