Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the digestive tract. The symptoms of this ailment include pain and diarrhoea, sometimes even weight loss. This disease calls for betterment in lifestyle, in terms of better eating habits and doing whole lots of exercises. Medication is, of course, also required.

The exact cause of Crohn's disease is not known. Medical scientists believe the ailment is caused by a combination of a number of factors like genetics, immunity disorder and environmental factors.

The main symptoms of Crohn's disease include pain in the belly, diarrhoea, fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight, anal fissures and anaemic tendencies. Even though Crohn's disease is about the immunity system, its symptoms can be seen beyond the digestive tract like joint pain, eye problems, liver disease, etc.

Diet For Crohn's Disease:
For those suffering from Crohn's disease, calories are essential. There are foods that though don't heal the problem can provide the required amount of nutrition to prevent the problem from getting aggravated further.

There is no perfect Crohn's disease diet, since it varies from person to person, but the following 7 superfoods can be tried to see the results:


1. Oatmeal:

Unlike insoluble fibre which can be bad for those having IBD like Crohn's, oatmeal has soluble fibre which absorbs water and passes through the digestive tract smoothly.


2. Avocados:

This doctor fruit includes good fats, vitamins B and E, potassium and fibre, which is easy to digest. If you have Crohn's disease, avocados are a must pick.


3. Eggs:

Eggs have easily digestible proteins and can be good options during a flare-up.


4. Vegetable Soup:

Prepare soups that include vegetables like carrots and pumpkins. They are good for the digestive tract and also provide the necessary nutrients.


5. Papaya:

The papain enzyme in papaya helps the body to digest proteins. Besides, the fruit also includes vitamins A and C, potassium, etc. This is a good option for those having inflammation in the abdomen.


6. Chicken:

Easy-to-digest protein, chicken is good for anybody having Crohn's and suffering from it.


7. Almond Milk:

Though Crohn's disease patients are lactose intolerant, almond milk is a great alternative for them. It can be fortified to enhance its calcium content like ordinary milk. It has vitamins D and E, but no saturated fat or cholesterol level.
