Lunula is actually the visible part of the nail root. It is very noticeable on the thumb than the other nails. The while colour of lunula is because the fifth basil layer of the epidermis is underneath the blood cells.

Fewer lunulae on the nails indicate less energy, poor health condition, weaker immunity and tired body.

The size of lunula can be achieved with the help of exercise, good diet which includes fruits and vegetables. The significance of half moon shape on nails is quiet important and it is better if we consult the doctor, if we notice non-existent or small lunula.

Thumb without lunula signifies psychological diseases.
If the lunula in the indx finger is either small or non-existent, then it may cause problems with intestines, pancreas or reproductive system in women.
Absence of lunula in the index finger shows problems with index finger.
The same condition in the fourth finger indicates problem with thyroid gland.
In the little finger, it indicates that the intestines are clogged.
