Herpes is an infection which is caused by the herpes simplex virus or HSV. Herpes can occur in various parts of the body, most commonly on the mouth or genitals.

HSV can be of two types - HSV1 or oral herpes that can cause sores around the mouth and face, and HSV 2 which causes herpes on the genitals.

Herpes can affect both men and women and can be very painful. It takes form of small red, swollen and liquid-filled blisters or sores.

Herpes can occur through direct contact (sex, kiss or touch) or indirectly (by sharing an infected person's personal items). The HSV is highly infectious and can cause brain infection, cancer, etc.

1. Ice Pack:

Give ice compression on your herpes sores. Take some ice cubes, crush them and take them in a piece of cloth. Place it on the sores for 10-15 minutes. It will help in giving relief from the pain and swelling. Do this several times in a day.


2. Spa And Warm Water:

Use warm water to give a calming effect on the sores. Use a good soap to keep the infected area clean and also use a clean cloth to dry the parts. Never use anybody else's soap or cloth.


3. Olive Oil:

An agent which helps in moisturising the skin, olive oil is rich in antioxidants and can cure herpes sores. Heat one cup of olive oil and add some lavender oil and bee wax in it. After the mixture cools down, apply it on the infected area of your body.


4. Baking Soda:

Another effective ingredient to treat herpes is baking soda. Take a cotton ball and soak it into baking soda and apply it on the infected area. It helps in drying the sores. Ensure that the baking soda does not get contaminated when used by others.


5. Aloe Vera:

An excellent natural remedy, aloe vera can be used to heal herpes blisters. You can also use aloe vera gel on the sores.


6. Echinacea:

This medicinal plant has excellent antiviral properties and boosts our immunity. All parts of this plant can be used for curing herpes. Consume echinacea in the form of tea, juice, etc.


7. Black Tea:

Black tea is rich in tannins. Its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties make it a good agent to treat herpes. Take black tea bags to prepare a cup of tea and cool them and later apply on the sores.


8. Lemon:

Lemon balm is a very effective herbal remedy to cure herpes. The flavonoid, and phenolic and rosmarinic acid in lemon balm help heal the herpes blisters. Soak a cotton in lemon balm tea and apply on the sores.
