Green Foods To Avoid Stomach Bloating
From the time you wake up to the time you have lunch, you feel perfectly fine. But soon after lunch, you start getting an uneasy feeling in your tummy. It is not a pain but a sensation of being too full. You may also see a visible bloating. It leaves you in an uncomfortable state for the rest of the day. Yes, there are medicines that give relief, but as long as it lasts, it gives great agony. What could be the reasons behind this? Could there be foods to avoid stomach bloating?
Before we go into foods to avoid stomach bloating, it would be better to look at the some of the causes behind the condition. Some of the common stomach bloating causes include excessive salt intake, overeating, excessively spicy food, consuming carbonated drinks and constantly chewing gum. Another reason could be the manner in which you take your food like drinking through a straw or eating too fast without proper chewing.
There are also certain types of foods that lead to bloating in some people. Those are dairy products, beans, artificial sweeteners, whole grains, cabbages, sprouts and broccoli.
While there are foods that can cause bloating, there are some foods that can help avoid bloating. Take a look at green foods to avoid stomach bloating.
Celery
The crunchy celery stalks are known to control intestinal gas. The chemical present in these greens decrease fluid retention. It is also known to have detoxifying properties, which help flush out toxins from the body.
Mint
As a belly friendly leaf, mint has many uses. Many medicines for stomach problems are known to have mint as an ingredient.
Green beans and lentils
The dry beans when sprouted are a bloating-prone food. On the other hand, when you consume these in the green state, you have quite the opposite effects. Get them when in season and cook them. Not only do they carry the fresh taste of the season, but also help keep you safe from bloating.
Cucumber
Is it a fruit or a vegetable? It hardly matters when it comes to its taste and nutrition content. Cucumbers are known to have antioxidant flavonoids that help control swelling.
Asparagus
This is an anti-bloating superfood. It also helps flush out excess water through urine thereby relieving you from any kind of discomfort due to bloating.
Bananas
This evergreen fruit is a rich source of potassium. It prevents water retention by regulating the sodium levels in the body. Being a rich fibre source, it also provides relief from constipation and stomach related ailments.
Fennel
Many Indian homes have roasted fennel seeds always at hand. It is a common to eat them after meal. It aids in digestion, reduces gastrointestinal spasms, allows gas to pass and controls bloating.
Yoghurt
Have we not always heard about this milk product? Whenever there is mention of food products that are good for the gut, yoghurt always find a place. Full of good bacteria, it is a miracle food for the belly.
