10 Foods We Eat At Wrong Hours That Are Harming Our Body
As we all know, a balanced diet is crucial for a healthy lifestyle. Loading up on healthy food, filled with all the essential nutrients will keep the human body well nourished and radiant from within. In today's fast-paced world, where it is rather hard to stick to a regulated balanced diet, staying fit and healthy proves to be a hard task.
Despite busy schedules and lack of time, if you decide to follow a healthy diet, there is a whole list of nutritious foods that you could opt for. Most of us are aware of this by now.
But, what we may not know is the fact that there are specific times in a day, during which certain food items can be consumed.
It might be quite surprising to find out that we have been consuming some of the most common food items during the wrong times of a day.
Doing this may have negative effects on your health in the long run. It is best to be aware of when to eat what, so that you have a better control over your diet.
Read on to know more about the best times in a day to consume certain foods!
1. Milk
It is a common fact that milk is an extremely healthy drink that is high in proteins and other nutrients. Experts claim that the best time to consume milk would be in the night, rather than in the day because it takes a long time to digest and might make you feel lethargic. Drinking milk at night relaxes your body and enables the cells to absorb the nutrients effectively, while you rest.
2. Green Tea
Most of us love green tea, as it is both healthy and light! But, it does not mean that we can drink this beverage at any time of the day. Drinking green tea very early in the morning should be avoided, as the caffeine content in it might cause dehydration and induce acidity. It is best to be consumed later on in the day.
3. Rice
According to the opinion of dietitians, rice and even white bread can be avoided at night times, as they are high in starch content and may leave your stomach with a bloated sensation through the night. Also, consuming rice at night may promote weight gain, as it takes longer to digest and our body is completely at rest.
4. Curd
According to Ayurveda, curd induces heat in the body when consumed at night. This may lead to various ailments like acidity and digestive disorders if continued on a regular basis. Ayurvedic experts say that eating curd in the night is equal to spending a while under the hot afternoon sun!
5. Coffee
While many of us avoid drinking coffee at night, there are still a few who love this beverage and go ahead and have a cup even during the night. It is said that drinking coffee at nighttime could irritate your digestive system and also make you feel quite restless, thanks to its caffeine content!
6. Red Wine
It is always best to have a glass of red wine during late evenings or after dinner, rather than during the day, is what research claims. This is because, red wine is rich in antioxidants that can be absorbed better when your body is not active. Also, red wine will surely relax you after a long day!
7. Orange Juice
Being popular as a classic breakfast beverage, orange juice works best when consumed during the day. Loaded with vitamin D and folic acid, orange juice will keep you feeling energised throughout the day, as well as increase your metabolic rate.
8. Dark Chocolate
Many of us know that chocolate is not a very healthy option to choose when it comes to sticking to a balanced diet. However, dark chocolate, which is high in cocoa content and low in sugar, is considered to be quite healthy! Dark chocolate is also rich in antioxidants and can ideally be consumed at night, as it can reduce blood pressure and elevate your mood!
9. Pistachio
Pistachio is a very healthy and tasty dry fruit, which makes for a great night-time snack. Rich in fibre, biotin and vitamins, pistachio contains a lesser calorific value and can be digested easily. It also keeps you from having night-time food cravings, thus helping you maintain a healthy weight.
10. Fruits
Who wouldn't like to keep binging on yummy fruits all day! But, unfortunately, experts opine that ideally fruits can be consumed in the mornings, as they are rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre and folic acid that work together in keeping you feeling fresh and peppy throughout the day.
