Mooli Paratha: North Indian Breakfast

Are you fan of paratha recipes? Then your hunger for parathas will never die. To satisfy your cravings for paratha recipes, we bring to you Mooli Paratha. Mooli paratha is a very special dish that is popular as an Indian breakfast. Mooli paratha is filled with a stuffing of deliciously spiced radishes. Basically, radishes are called 'mooli' in Hindi.
Radish filled parathas are a delicacy up North. This Indian breakfast recipe is most popular in Punjab. Make sure you cook the radish stuffing for the mooli paratha very well. If it is a bit raw, then the radishes will make you really gassy.

Serves: 4
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Radish- 1 (grated)
- Onion- 1 (chopped finely)
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
- Coriander leaves- 2 springs (chopped)
- Chaat masala- 1tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Wheat flour (atta)- 2 cups
- Flour- 1/2 cup
- Ajwain or carom seed- 1/2 tsp
- Ghee- 2tbsp
- Oil- 1tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Heat oil in a shallow pan. When the oil heats up, season it with cumin seeds and green chillies.
- Add onions and saute for 3-4 minutes. Then add the grated radish and stir fry it on a low flame for 5-6 minutes.
- Add salt, coriander leaves and chaat masala. Mix it up and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from flame and allow the stuffing to cool to room temperature.
- Knead a dough with flour, wheat flour, ajwain, salt and 1tbsp ghee. Use 1.5 cups of warm water to knead the dough.
- Now make fist-sized balls out of the dough. Dig your thumb into the dough balls and make an opening.
- Fill 1 spoon of the mooli stuffing that you prepared earlier into this hole and seal it with your fingers.
- Now roll this dough ball into a paratha.
- Add a bit of ghee on a heated pan (tawa) and fry the parathas one by one.
You can have mooli paratha with salad or curds for breakfast.
