Fried Idli Recipe For Breakfast
Are in the mood for a proper South Indian recipe? Then we have just the right breakfast recipe for you. Ever heard of the fried idli recipe. Idlis are usually steamed and made of a rice batter. You can also have different types of idlis like rava idli and green peas idlis as your South Indian breakfast. But the fried idli recipe is different from all these.
Technically, fried idli is a leftover recipe. You can enjoy steamed idlis only when they are warm. Idlis are not tasty if you heat them in the micro-oven the next day. So the best way to use these left over idlis is to try a new breakfast recipe. Fried idlis is a recipe that makes use of leftover idli to make a spicy new dish. It is awfully easy to make the fried idli recipe. You need just 10 minutes and you have breakfast ready on the table.

Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- Leftover idlis- 4 (cut into small pieces)
- Onions- 2 (diced)
- Capsicum- 1 (chopped into medium sized pieces)
- Tomato -1 (chopped)
- Green chillies- 2 (chopped)
- Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
- Sambar powder- 1tsp
- Mustard seed- 1/2 tsp
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
Procedure
- Heat oil in a shallow pan. Season it with mustard seeds and green chillies.
- Then add the diced onions to the pan. Saute them low flame for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the pieces of idlis to the pan along with the capsicum.
- Fry on high flame for 3-4 minutes.
- Then pour the tomatoes. Season with salt, red chilli powder and sambar powder.
- Stir it well and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes.
- Garnish the fried idlis with coriander leaves.
Serve hot fried idlis as a breakfast. You can have curd or rasam with it.
