Spicy Dahi Mutton Recipe
Dahi mutton recipe is a classic dish which we can often spot on the roadside dhaba menus. This is yet another mutton recipe which does not involve lengthy steps of cooking or require a long list of ingredients. It is a simple, balanced and a delicious mutton recipe.
Dahi mutton recipe involves cooking the mutton in a yogurt based gravy. The meat is first marinated with yogurt and other ingredients and then allowed to cook slowly over a low flame. Dahi mutton recipe is a perfect dish if you love spicy non-vegetarian food.

Ingredients
- Mutton- 500gms
- Yogurt- 1 cup
- Onion- 3 (minced)
- Ginger-garlic paste- 2tbsp
- Coriander powder- 2tsp
- Kashmiri red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Cumin powder- 2tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Bay leaf- 1
- Salt- as per taste
- Kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves)- 2tsp
- Ghee- 2tbsp
- Water- 1 cup
Procedure
- Clean and wash the mutton pieces properly.
- Marinate the mutton pieces with yogurt, kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, one tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste and salt. Keep it in the refrigerator for about 3 hours.
- After 3 hours, heat ghee in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and bay leaf. Fry for a minute.
- Add the minced onion and cook for about 5-6 minutes on medium flame till it turns golden brown.
- Add one tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
- Now add the mutton pieces and cook for about 8-10 minutes till the water is absorbed completely.
- Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder and cook for about 3 minutes.
- Crush the kasuri methi between your palms and add it to the pan. Mix well.
- Add salt and water. Cover and cook for about 20-25 minutes on low flame. Keep stirring at regular intervals.
- Once done, turn off the flame and serve.
The spicy dahi mutton recipe is ready to be served. Enjoy this spicy delight with steamed rice or parathas.
