In Kashmir, yakhni recipe is essentially made of yoghurt and meat broth. Kashmiri chicken yakhni recipe is originally a Persian dish and came to India during the reign of Akbar. Yakhni is a must to have dish during the holy month of Ramadan.

Cooking time 30 minutes.
Preparation time 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Chicken - 1 kilogramme
Yoghurt - half litre
Fennel or saunf powder- 4 teaspoon

Ginger powder - 4 teaspoon
Dried mint leaves - 4 tablespoon
Oil enough to fry the chicken
Green cardamom - 5 pieces
Cinnamon -1 piece
Salt to taste

Method Of Preparation
1. Put yoghurt in a deep bottomed vessel on full flame. Keep it stirring continuously until it boils and gets thin. Keep it aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan. Add chicken and fry it. Don't deep fry.
3. Remove the chicken from the pan and put it in a vessel.
4. Add saunf powder, ginger powder, cinnamon, green cardamom and salt to the vessel containing chicken.

5. Add three cups of water to it and let it boil for some time.
6. To this boiling chicken, add yoghurt. Boil it until it thickens.
7. Garnish with dried mint leaves Your Kashmiri chicken yakhni recipe is prepared. Serve it hot with white rice.
