Coorgi Fried Chicken Recipe
Bored of the same old chicken recipes that you try every weekend? Try this fried chicken recipe from the mountain district of Coorg (Kodagu) in Karnataka. In the local tongue, this Coorgi chicken dish is called Koli Bhartad. Coorgi cuisine has a flavour of its own. All Coorgi chicken recipes are cooked with a special spice called the Coorgi garam masala. Coorgi fried chicken is a recipe soaked in this masala and then stir fried. You can make this fried chicken recipe as a side dish with dal and rice.
This recipe is made with the special vinegar made in Coorg.This region is also famous for being home to some of the best quality spices in India. The special Coorgi chicken dish is best enjoyed with the spices grown in the mountains of Coorg.

Ingredients:
Coriander

Procedure
Grind all the ingredients like coriander seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, cinnamon and cloves in the blender. You must grind them into a fine powder.
This above combination is the special Coorgi garam masala that can be made if the spices are home grown. You can even buy from the market and grind the masala at home.
Marinate the chicken with the ground masala and salt. Keep the chicken marinated for 1 hour.
Heat oil in a shallow pan. Season it with a little bit of the masala you just prepared. Then add the onions and garlic to it. Saute on low flame for 2-3 minutes till the onion turns golden.
Then add red chilli powder and stir well to mix it up.
Put the marinated chicken pieces into the pan. Fry it on low flame for 10 minutes.
Drizzle some vinegar into the pan. Cover and cook for 5 more minutes.
Serve Coorgi Fried chicken with onion rings and green salad. You can also have it with dal and rice.
