Holi: Skincare Tips For Dry Skin; How To Remove Holi Colour From Dry Skin?
While dry skin most commonly affects the hands, arms, and legs, it can affect any part of the body and is usually marked by scaling, itching, and cracking. There are several causes of dry skin.

Some of these include environment, hard water, genetics, excessive washing, exposure to irritants, as well as medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism or diabetes [1].
It is important to note that as the skin dries, it shrinks and develops cracks. Cracks can become deep, painful, and even bleed. Cracks can also allow germs and bacteria to enter the body and potentially cause a skin infection [2].
And when an external irritant such as Holi colours comes into contact with your dry skin, it can be really bothersome. So, we've got some skincare tips for dry skin. Take a look.
Skincare Tips For Dry Skin During Holi
Colours used during Holi can aggravate the condition of people with dry skin.
Follow these simple yet effective skincare tips to manage your dry skin this festive season:
1. Cleansing
During the bath, use a very gentle face cleanser or moisturising soap, as harsh soaps and cleansers can wash away the skin's natural oils and leave the skin dry. Harsh soaps and cleansers can contain chemicals that can strip the skin of its natural oils, resulting in dryness [3].
By using a gentle cleanser or moisturising soap, you will be able to maintain a healthy moisture balance and preserve the skin's natural oils and play Holi, stress-free.

2. Moisturising
After taking a shower, apply a thick moisturiser to your skin to ensure that it is adequately hydrated [4].
Keeping the skin moisturised helps to maintain the skin's natural balance of minerals, vitamins, and nutrients. Drinking plenty of water can also help to flush out toxins and reduce inflammation, which can lead to an improvement in the appearance of the skin.
3. Use an ointment
The use of an ointment or cream over a lotion is more effective and less irritating. Look for products that contain one or more of the following ingredients, such as jojoba oil, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or lactic acid.
How To Remove Holi Colour From Dry Skin?
You can make a paste of wheat flour with any carrier oil and apply it to the face. Leave it for a few minutes, and then massage it in. Wash it off with a mild cleanser. Wheat flour can be very helpful in soothing dry skin.
Multani mitti can also be used since it helps dry out the colour without hurting your skin, so that it can be removed after rinsing. Multani mitti has a variety of benefits for all skin types as it softens the skin, improves blood circulation, removes dark spots, blemishes, etc.
Multani mitti has the ability to remove excess oil from the skin as a result of its absorbent properties. Therefore, if you already have dry skin, it is recommended to combine it with yoghurt, honey, or milk.

On A Final Note...
Dry skin is generally harmless, but there is always a possibility that it is caused by an underlying skin condition, such as eczema or psoriasis. If you suspect this to be the case, consult your physician.
