How does homemade rosemary herbal mask help get rid of dandruff? Rosemary has powerful antibacterial and antiseptic properties that break down the yeast buildup on scalp, kill bacteria that cause dandruff, keeping it from regrouping again.
Furthermore, rosemary stimulates blood circulation in scalp, which in turn helps the hair strands to absorb oxygen and nutrients better, thereby boosting hair growth.

So, here is the step-by-step guide on how to get rid of dandruff naturally using rosemary.
Step 1:
Boil 2 cups of water over low flame. When the water comes to a boiling point, add a heaping tablespoon of dried rosemary powder to the water. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, until the liquid turns dark brown in shade.
Step 2:
Let the solution cool in room temperature. Strain it and transfer the solution in a jar. Add 3 drops of lemon essential oil to the mixture. Citric acid present in lemon will help cleanse the scalp and add an irresistible shine to your hair.
Step 3:
Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil to the mixture and mix everything well. Lauric acid present in coconut oil will strengthen hair roots, improve elasticity of the hair and make your locks super-smooth.
Step 4:
Using a wide-toothed comb, remove all unwanted tangles from your hair. Exert as little pressure as possible to minimize breakage.
Step 5:
Dip a cotton ball into the solution, wring out the excess and apply it carefully on your scalp. Repeat until your entire scalp is thoroughly doused in the solution. Let it sit overnight.
Step 6:
In the morning, rinse it clean with a mild herbal shampoo. Follow it up with a nourishing conditioner.
Step 7:
Once done, squeeze your hair to remove excess water. Take an old t-shirt and gently wrap your scalp with it. It will remove the excess moisture from your scalp, while keeping the frizz at bay.
Step 8:
Let your hair air-dry naturally. In case if you have to use a blow-dryer, make sure to apply a heat-protecting serum first.
Things To Keep In Mind
- Use this rosemary hair tonic at least twice in a week to see a noticeable difference in the presence of dandruff.
- Slight burning sensation is normal. However, if there is too much of an irritation, then rinse your hair with plain water immediately.
- Oiling hair will certainly nourish hair strands, but too much oiling can also trigger dandruff, so oil your hair not more than once a week.
