Onion & Lemon Juice
Sulphur and citric acid present in this mask help break down the dead-skin buildup and lighten the skin. Peel, cut and dice one onion. Grind it into a smooth paste. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and glycerin to the mixture. Apply it to your knees. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Later, scrub and rinse.
Being a deep emollient, petroleum jelly will remove flaky skin and nourish the area. Massage your knees with petroleum jelly every night before going to bed. By morning, you will notice the skin become visibly soft and light. Do this every night, until you notice a visible difference in skin tone.
Besan & Turmeric
Essential vitamins present in besan exfoliate the skin, turmeric lightens the blemishes and yogurt moisturises the skin.
Take a tablespoon of besan, add a pinch of turmeric and a required amount of yogurt, to whip it all in a smooth paste. Apply it to the knees, wait for 30 minutes, and then scrub and rinse. You can also use this mask to exfoliate your entire body.
Acetic acid present in vinegar works as a chemical peel removing tan. Take a few drops of vinegar on a cotton ball, dab it on your knees. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.
Vitamin C is present in ample in orange peel, which can lighten your skin tone. Put orange peel out in the sun to dry. Grind it into a fine powder. Beta-carotene present in tomato is known to remove tan. Cut a thin slice of tomato, sprinkle some sugar onto it and rub it on your knees and elbows.
