Dry skin means dehydrated skin. And dehydrated skin can mean only one thing and that is ageing skin. In our quest to treat this skin problem, we curated these simple tricks to treat dry body skin.

But, how do you know if your body skin is dry, semi-dry or on the greasy side? Here is a little test that will give you the answers.

Visual examination. As soon as midday hits, go and check your skin in the mirror. If it is excessively shiny, you have oily skin. If it feels tight, with whitish film, you have dreaded dry skin. And if it is partly shiny and partly greasy, you have semi-dry skin.

One common mistake most of us commit is invest all our attention on facial skin and completely ignore the body skin.

Your body is just as susceptible to ageing as your face, only the signs it manifests itself varies. For instance, your body skin will be more dry than usual accompanied by flaky skin and pigmentation. And the classic sign, loss in skin tone can also lead to loose and saggy skin.

So, to beat all that, here are some of the quick tricks to treat dry body skin.

Baby Oil

Gentle formulation of baby oil is suitable for all skin types. Furthermore, baby oil contains vitamin E, which hydrates and protects the skin against free radicals.

Before going to bed, massage your skin with baby oil. Let it sit overnight. By morning, your skin will be supple, smooth and radiant.

Jojoba Oil

Structure of jojoba oil closely resembles that of your skin's natural oil, making it an excellent herbal remedy for dry skin.

Add a tablespoon of jojoba oil to your body lotion. Shake it well until it incorporates and use as usual.

Besan Ubtan


Soap has harsh properties, which strips the skin of its natural oils, making it dry, rough and scaly. Here is an age-old ubtan your skin will thank you for.

Mix a tablespoon of besan, with 1 teaspoon of honey, a pinch of turmeric and yogurt enough to whip it into a smooth paste. Use this Ayurvedic body mask every day instead of soap to cleanse and see a notable difference in the skin's quality within a week!

Honey + Almond Oil


Honey works as a natural humectant and almond oil is rich in vitamins E and C, together these natural ingredients can infuse life back into your dry skin.

Add a tablespoon of honey and 10 drops of almond oil to your bathing water. Soak in the solution for 15 minutes, and bathe as usual. Within the first wash, you will notice your skin become visibly smooth!

Oatmeal + Milk + Honey


It is only when you slough off the dead skin cells can your skin absorb moisture better and breathe. Here is a scrub that will rid the dead skin layers, without disrupting the pH of your skin!

Take 2 tablespoons of oats and grind it into a fine powder. Add a tablespoon of honey and whip it into a coarse paste using raw milk. Apply a thin coat all over your body. Wait till it dries fully, before scrubbing it off in a circular motion. Rinse and pat dry.

Rose Water + Glycerin

From toning, repairing to moisturising, these two ingredients quench the perpetual thirst of your dehydrated skin.

Mix rose water and glycerin in an equal quantity. Beat it with a spoon until they mix well. Dip a cotton ball into the solution. Apply it all over your body skin. Wait till it gets soaked naturally. Follow it up with a nourishing lotion. Your skin will remain supple, smooth and glossy all day long.
