Does your dark armpit keep you from wearing your frilly cute sleeveless top? Time to let go all of your inhibitions with this potato mask for dark underarms.
Underarm darkening or axillary darkening is a condition, common both in men and women. And it happens when the melanin count spirals in the armpit, causing the skin to become dark.
What triggers the condition? Certain medications like contraceptive pills contain nicotinic acid that cause the skin to discolour. Other than that, shaving, bacterial infection like erythrasma, usage of deodorants can all make skin dark!
What you need to do? Wear loose fitting clothes, avoid deodorants for a while, avoid shaving and cleanse the area with plain water to keep it dry.
Other than that, here is a skin bleaching potato mask that works like a charm! Ingredients included in this potato mask for dark underarms - potato juice, lemon, turmeric and cucumber juice.
Potato works as a bleach, lightening skin tone. Honey moisturizes the skin. Lemon juice kills any lurking bacteria and cucumber soothes the skin.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to lighten dark arm pits naturally!
Take a bowl, peel and grate 1 big potato. Grind the potato into a fine paste. Later using a muslin cloth squeeze out the juice. Potato works as a natural bleaching agent that lightens and brightens the skin tone.
Add 5 drops of lemon juice to the mixture and mix it well. Lemon juice has citric acid that sloughs the dead skin cells, revealing clear skin underneath. Plus it is packed with vitamin C that removes skin pigmentation.
Add a pinch of turmeric to the mixture. Turmeric reduces the excess oil secreted from the sebaceous gland. Plus it has anti-inflammatory properties which kills infection-causing bacteria.
Peel, grate and extract the juice of a cucumber. Cucumber has water, vitamin B complex and biotin, all of which soothes the skin, lightens blemishes and reduces body odour. Mix 1 teaspoon of cucumber juice with other ingredients. By now you should have gel-like consistency.
Cleanse the area with plain water. If it is sweaty and you have used any roll on, use a mild soap to cleanse the bacterial residue. Pat dry.
Dip a cotton ball into the solution. Apply it on your armpits. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Dip a towel in hot water, wring out the excess and wipe the area with the cloth.
Let the area dry fully; later take a few drops of rose water in a cotton ball and dab it on your armpit. Rose water tones the area, neutralizes any bacteria and smoothens the skin.
Avoid using deodorant as much as possible. If you tend to sweat a lot sprinkle some corn starch on your underarms, instead. It will keep the area dry, odourless and free of toxic chemicals.
If you have an open wound or bump in that area, avoid trying this potato mask for dark skin on underarms. To see a noticeable improvement, use this potato mask for dark underarms once daily, for a couple of months.
