Geometry Of The Universe And The Spirit
Ever wondered and questioned why certain things take a particular shape? Did you know that it is through the understanding of spiritual geometry that we've constructed geometry the way it exists today? What then is spiritual geometry?
Spiritual geometry is a concept that encompasses the entire universe. By way of studying patterns in the universe, humans were able to understand scores of other concepts and patterns that nature follows, including even the most basic phenomena of day and night.
We've all studied theoretical geometry back in school and have subsequently been able to relate it with our outside world. Some of us go on to choose careers that are dominated by shapes and structures. Going outside the purview of shapes and patterns created by humans, this with due reference to buildings and other forms of man-made structures, let us look at cases where geometry has proven to be a fundamental element of existence and how we know geometry as it exists today.
Before we humans came up with techniques to construct buildings and objects by means of a certain degree of knowledge on shapes and structures, we used to look at nature for patterns and shapes. Right from the time our most distant ancestors set foot on this wonderful planet, we have looked around us - the trees, smaller plants, water bodies, landforms and space. This form of geometry, referred to as spiritual geometry, encompasses the entire universe everything follows a set pattern. Let us now delve into the major sources of spiritual geometry.

Mandals:
Mandalas are mostly associated with Hinduism and Buddhism. These were basically places of worship for followers of Buddhism or Hinduism. Mandals contain religious inscriptions, texts, drawings and patterns. They speak a great deal about astronomy and various other aspects related to geometry. They also elaborate the function and purpose of the existence of the spiritual plane. While developing designs, monks in mandalas go into a deep meditative state to make accurate their interpretation of geometry of the universe and the spirit.
Art Forms:
Artists are perhaps the best people who can perfectly elucidate spiritual geometry through their works. Art is easily one of the major sources of spiritual geometry. Art works of some of the greatest ancient artists have given us a clear picture of how we as humans understood shapes and patterns.
For instance, the triangle, one of the most basic yet most essential geometrical pattern was used to construct the pyramids of Egypt. The triangle perfectly explains how a line in a single dimension can give rise to a dimensional plane, all being part of the same figure. The pyramids are nothing but the three dimensional manifestation of the triangle, a product of geometry of the universe and the spirit.
The Middle East:
Spiritual artists have come up with fabulous shapes to beautify and embellish places of worship. It goes without saying that spiritual geometry, as also found mentioned in the Koran, influenced thought and ideas that eventually led to the construction of incredible buildings and monuments.
Sacred Christian Geometry:
Ancient Christians employed spiritual geometry in their religious texts. They were also of the understanding that it was the intuitive interpretation of the universe's beauty that led them to come up with profound shapes and patterns.
Food for thought:
Did you know that leaves of plants take a particular shape so that the absorption of sunlight is optimal? Do you know that all the galaxies follow a particular pattern? Did you also know that the patterns come from the Fibonacci Sequence?
