Spiritual Practice Amidst Worldly Activities?

Is it possible to indulge in spiritual practice amidst one's worldly activities?

Once Sri Ramakrishna was confronted with the question by a seeker.

Sri Ramakrishna explained the truth with a beautiful example. The master cited the example of a child spinning round and round playfully. It is soon subjected to get dizzy and fall down. Instead if a child holds on to a pole and spins around, its grip on the pole enables it to stand upright without falling over.

Sri Ramakrishna says that when one holds on to the true self diligently, one is not affected by the head spinning, dizziness of the world.

One is safe an secure if he takes refuge in his true self.
