Chhath Puja 2023: Offering Arghya To Sun (Surya Dev)? Know Sunset Timings In Different Cities
Chhath Puja 2023: This is a significant festival celebrated in Hinduism and every year it is celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Celebrated predominantly in northern parts of India, especially in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, this one is dedicated to Surya Dev or Sun God.
Chhath Puja is celebrated for four days and women observe fast on this day for the long life and well-being of their children and show gratitude to the Sun, who is the provider of life on the Earth. Chhath Puja is also known as Surya Shashthi, Prathihar, Chhathi, and Dala Chhath.

This day is dedicated to Chhathi Maiya, the sister of Lord Sun and the sixth form of Devi Prakriti. According to the Hindu Calendar, it is observed on the sixth day of the lunar month of Kartika, or Vikram Samvat, six days after Diwali. Let us know the sunset timings on Chhath Puja city-wise to offer Arghya to the Sun.
When Is Chhath Puja 2023?
This year, the Chhath Puja will begin on Friday, 17 November, and continue till Monday, 20 November.
According to the Drik Panchang,
- On the first day, the sunset on Nahay Khay (bathing and feasting) will take place at 06:45 am and the sunset time is 05:27 pm.
- On the second day, the sunrise time on this day is 06:46 am and the sunset time is 17:26 pm.
- On the third day of Chhath, sunrise and sunset are scheduled for 06:46 am and 5:26 pm respectively.
- The fourth and last day of Chhath, Usha Arghya, is dedicated to offering Arghya to the rising sun.
According to Drik Panchang, the sunrise time on this day is 06:47 am and the sunset time is 17:26 pm.
