Naturalness, The Way Of Buddha

Death causes anxiety in an ordinary human being. It is just a matter of casually casting away one's body in the case of the enlightened ones.

Buddha, the enlightened one, shed His mortal coil very beautifully and naturally that it appeared like a beautiful poem written amidst the freshness of nature.

It is said that Buddha lived up to eighty two years. One morning Buddha called His disciples and said, “If you want to ask me anything, ask me now as I am going to shed my body"

The disciples were stunned by the master's sudden declaration of giving up His mortal coil. They all started wailing and weeping.

Buddha hushed them and asked them if they wanted anything more.

The disciples sadly replied, “You have taught us all that you have too and for even the future generations to come. There is nothing that we need to know"

“Then I am leaving," said Buddha casually. It is said, that He first left His body, second His mind, third His heart and fourth His soul and simply dissolved into existence.

It is believed that there were thousands who were present during that time and who were in the verge of getting liberated got enlightened. The meditative energy released was so great that it simply pushed people into enlightenment.

Buddha shed His body so naturally in the morning amidst the freshness of nature with birds chirping as if it was another spontaneous happening in nature when the day dawned.

Living and dying was spontaneous and natural for the enlightened.
