Zen Story

A student of Tendai belonging to a philosophical school of wisdom went to Gasan as a pupil. After a few years of discipleship and at the time of departure, Gasan warned him : "Studying the truth speculatively is useful as a way of collecting preaching material. But remember that unless you meditate constantly you light of truth may go out."
