Civil Services Examination 2022-2023: Ishita Kishore Tops, Women Secure Top Four Spots!
On Tuesday, 23 May 2023, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the UPSC CSE 2022 final result and Ishita Kishore secured All India Rank 1 in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022. Also, interestingly, this year, all the top four rank holders in UPSC CSE 2022 are bagged by women candidates.
Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra follow Ishita Kishore on this list. Last year, more than 10 lakh candidates applied for the exam. This is the second year in a row when women candidates bagged all the top three positions in one of India's most prestigious exams.

Who Is Kishore Kumar?
Ishita Kishore is an economics graduate who completed her graduation from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University in 2017. Since her school, she has been a good all-rounder performer. Talking about her professional career, she has worked with Ernst &Young in risk advisory. Apart from that she is extremely active in sports.
She attempted for UPSC CSE exams three times in total and it was the third attempt that she cracked it. In her first two attempts, she was unable to clear the preliminary exam of UPSC but in her third attempt, she qualified for the interview round, which is stage 3 to qualify for the UPSC exam.
For people who are unversed, one has to qualify for all three stages of the UPSC CSE exam -- prelims, mains and then interview. Candidates who have appeared for the main exam and the interview round can check their results through the official site of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
UPSC CSE preliminary examination took place on 5 June 2022. The results of the preliminary examination were declared on 22 June 2022. The main examination, which is the second stage of the UPSC CSE, was conducted from 16-25 September 2022. Following the evaluation of the main examination papers, the results were announced on 6 December 2022. The third and final stage is the interview round. The interviews for the selected candidates concluded on 18 May 2023. Finally, the Union Public Service Commission released the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2022 on 23 May 2023 after a rigorous selection process.
This year in 2023, a total of 933 candidates have made it to the final list.
