When A Valentine’s Day Proposal Went From Disaster To The Perfect Love Story
Recap
Ashwathy, a civil engineer, learns that her harsh and critical colleague, Aditya, has been in a car accident and is in the ICU. Despite their rocky relationship, she feels compelled to visit him at the hospital, where she bonds with his family, his sister Radhika and mother Mrs. Sharma. This experience softens her perception of Aditya, leading to a more humane understanding of his character.
As Aditya recovers, he returns to work with a changed demeanor, offering Ashwathy a yellow rose and an apology, indicating a desire for friendship. Their relationship evolves from professional to personal as they start having coffee together after work, which leads to office gossip and Ashwathy's subsequent decision to take a step back. However, Aditya confesses his love for her, which catches her off guard, leading to a period of tension and introspection. They decide to be friends and take it slow and decide things will be sweeter when they naturally evolve like a piece of chocolate. Soon, Aditya announces he's moving to the UK for a career opportunity.
Ashwathy feels betrayed by the lack of prior communication, leading to a period of estrangement. Despite her hurt, she misses him deeply, and his departure leaves a void in her life. Aditya, feeling remorse, sends Ashwathy a teddy bear with a heartfelt note, prompting her to acknowledge her feelings for him. They maintain contact through messages, promising to be there for each other without rushing into anything.
Months later, when Aditya returns to India for a cousin's wedding, their reunion at the airport reignites their connection. Aditya invites her to dinner, where she hugs him to his surprise. He then questions her on their current relationship status. She responds to it positively, though in an indirect manner. When he drops her back home, he asks if he could kiss her, to which she agrees without saying a word and they kiss each other. The story continues from here...
A Call That Changed Everything
A few days later, Ashwathy was wrapping up her work as usual when her phone rang. She glanced at the screen-an unknown number.
She hesitated before answering. "Hello?"
"Ashwathy, it's Vikram." The voice on the other end was rushed. "Aditya... he's in the hospital. There was an accident."
Her breath caught.
"What?!"
"A bike hit him. He's at City Hospital. He asked for you."
The words sent a chill down her spine. Her vision blurred as a thousand fears rushed in at once.
Anjali, her colleague and close friend, noticed her paling face. "What's wrong?"
"Aditya's been in an accident," she whispered.
"I'm coming with you," Anjali said immediately, grabbing her keys.
The ride to the hospital was filled with silence, except for Ashwathy's uneven breathing. Anjali gave her a reassuring glance. "He's strong. He'll be okay."
But Ashwathy wasn't convinced. The last time Aditya had been hospitalized, her concern stemmed from basic humanity, despite their rocky relationship. But now things were different she had feelings for this guy,
Feeling Betrayed

She sprinted into City Hospital, her heartbeat erratic. The reception directed her toward a private room. She barely acknowledged anyone as she rushed inside-
And stopped dead in her tracks.
Aditya was sitting on the hospital bed casually eating an apple. No injuries. No bandages. No visible pain. He was perfectly fine.
He smiled at her. "Hey."
Her breath hitched for a second, then the realization crashed in.
"You..." she started, her voice dangerously low. "You look fine, you lied to me?"
Before he could respond, he casually picked up a file from beside him and extended it toward her.
"Open it."
Still reeling, she snatched the file and flipped it open.
Inside, a red rose lay on top of some documents. A small note was tucked beside it.
"Once I put a yellow rose here and asked if we could be friends, Now here's a red rose and now my question is 'Will you be my Valentine, mine forever?'"
Silence.
Ashwathy's fingers curled around the edges of the file.
Then, before Aditya could react-
She slapped him.
A sharp sound echoed in the room.
Aditya winced, touching his cheek. "Ow."
Anjali, who had just stepped inside, gasped. "Oh my god."
"How dare you?!" Ashwathy's voice shook with fury. "Do you have any idea what I went through on the way here?"
Aditya blinked, still caught off guard. "I..."
"You made me think you were hurt! Again!" Her chest rose and fell rapidly. "Do you even know what that felt like? To rush here thinking something terrible happened to you? And for what? A Valentine's prank?!"
He opened his mouth, then closed it, guilt flickering across his face.
"I just wanted to recreate how we started out, thought it would be meaningful," he muttered.
"Meaningful?" She scoffed, pushing the file back at him. "This was cruel, Aditya."
Then, without another word, she turned and walked out, leaving him sitting there in stunned silence.
An Unexpected Invitation

Hours later, Aditya sat in his apartment, aimlessly scrolling through his phone, replaying the disastrous hospital scene in his mind.
His phone buzzed. A message from Ashwathy.
Dinner at 8 PM? My treat.
His eyebrows shot up. He re-read the message twice, trying to figure out if she was planning to give him an earful, slap him again or worse, end it all with him.
No matter what it was, there was no way he was saying no.
The Right Way To Say It

When Aditya arrived at the restaurant, he spotted Ashwathy sitting at a table near the window. He approached cautiously.
"You're not going to slap me again, are you?" he asked, sliding into the seat across from her.
She sighed. "I should."
"I really am sorry..."
"Sit first," she interrupted.
He eyed her warily but obeyed. They sat in silence, the tension still lingering but not unbearable. After a while, she met his gaze.
"You know why I was so mad?"
Aditya replied, "Because I scared you?"
She nodded. "You recreated the exact moment that changed everything between us. But that moment wasn't something to joke about, Aditya."
He exhaled. "I get it now. I'm an idiot."
"You are." She let out a small smile.
Then, to his surprise, she reached into her bag and pulled out a red rose.
He stared at it..
"Now let me teach you. This is the right way to do this."
He blinked.
"I love you, Aditya," she said, her voice steady. "And I don't want a stupid prank to be the way we remember this day. So, let me do it properly."
She slid the rose across the table toward him.
"Will you be my Valentine?"
For a moment, he just looked at her, stunned.
Then, his lips curved into a slow grin. "Took you long enough."
She rolled her eyes, but before she could say anything, he reached across the table and held her hand, squeezing it gently.
"I'd be a fool to say no."
She pulled his face closer and kissed his cheek affectionately in reply.

Sometimes, love isn't about grand gestures, it's about knowing when to admit your mistakes and when to hold on despite them.
With Valentine's Day, Ashwathy and Aditya's sweet love story comes to an end. But for them it's just the beginning of something beautiful, here is wishing them all the best.
And Happy Valentine's Day to all!
