Live-In Relationship: A Good Or Bad Idea
Marriage is the oldest form of bonding between people to solemnise their coming together. It is the oldest institution that has passed the test of times and adopted through the ages according to evolving cultures and times.
Live-in relationship is a new form of union that is taking on the idea of marriage. It has evolved from the western culture and penetrated the sanctity of marriage across all cultures around the world. Live-in relationship is basically an unofficial marriage and coming together of two people living together.
Live-in relationship is yet to be recognised in many countries and laws are yet to be established to deal with the idea. Two people consummating their relationship without marriage is still a taboo in major eastern cultures. However, most western cultures have come to terms and accepted live-in relationship that is being embraced by majority of youths there. Most people preferring a live-in relationship do so due to its convenience and hassle free aspect.

Marriage is costly affair requiring lot of time and resources. Failure of marriage too requires similar ordeal to deal with divorce legally and otherwise. Where as a general live-in relationship is like a preview to your marriage to see if it works for you. You can always choose to marry if it works or break up in a hassle free way if it heads south. Each of us has different views and perspective about live-in relationship.
1.Freedom and flexibility of having a live-in relationship is what makes it so appealing to the new generations. Couples involved are not bound by complcations of marriage legally and by general rules of it.
2.A live-in relationship is free of hassles such as planning children, socialising pesky relatives, sharing of everything etc. There is no compulsion among couple in terms of sharing each others responsibilities.
3.When you are in a live-in relationship, you are financially independent from your partner. There is no obligation to share your earnings with your partner, having all the freedom to plan your finances independently.
4.Live-in relationship can be used as a compatibility test between you and your partner. It gives you an opportunity to see how well you get along with your partner in real life situations while living together.
5.Not all people prefer lasting relationship. Some tend to get bored of same person after a while. Live-in relationship is best suited for them as they can change their partners when one starts feeling bored about the other.
6.Compared to a marriage, breaking up a live-in relationship is a hassle free experience. There are no legal obligations to fulfil before parting ways. You only have to deal with emotional aspect of a breakup.
7.In a live-in relationship you are free to set your own rules. There are no established social norms for a live-in relationship handing you a clean slate to write your own rules for the relationship.
8.Flexibility that a live-in relationship offers to couple is immense. Some couple who are pursuing a live-in relationship give each other even the freedom of having multiple partners while living in together.
9.Couple involved in a live-in relationship hardly need to sacrifice or mend ways to suit each other. You have lot of freedom to be your true self when in a live-in relationship. There is no compulsion to compromise your nature to get along with your partner.
10.Last and yet the most appealing aspect of a live-in relationship to most people is the ‘divorce' factor. When there is no compatibility even after a wile of living together, couple can decide to part ways without the hassles of going through divorce.
