Following

potty
training
tips
for
toddlers:
-
;
- Get a potty chair available in the market and make the child sit on it whenever he/she passes. After few days the toddler will walk towards it to signal that he/she wants to pass out. You can directly use the toilet if you feel uncomfortable with potty chairs. ;
-
;
- Make your toddler understand the bathroom procedures and equipments. Take your child to the bathroom and set the example of their siblings who often become role models of their younger ones. Female child should be taken by mother or elder sisters whereas fathers or elder brothers set the best example for male child. It is experienced by many couples that peers give a learning curve to the new ones. ;
-
;
- Teach the toddler to make signs or signals whenever he/she is wet. You can also teach words like chi-chi for urine and potty for stool. Whenever the child says or makes signs then understand that your child is learning. ;
-
;
- Be flexible and have patience as the child may not understand immediately. Based on the physical, mental and cognitive developments the child will respond to the training. Don't push the child to learn it as early as possible. The process is gradual so will take time. ;
-
;
- Consistency is important during the toddlers training. Tell your child that he/she is grown up now and has to take care of toilet. To begin with, take the child consistently to the toilet after every 20-30 minutes and when they go, reward them. Even if the toddler forgets and accidentally does potty on the floor during the training process then don't get angry. Give them positive sign by telling 'its okay' and try again next time. ;
-
;
- If your child is not learning after few weeks of practice then take a break. The toddler will come suddenly showing signs of going to the toilet. ;
-
;
- Stop using baby diapers as they are not good for the sensitive skin of the child. Better buy colorful underpants. Only prefer diapers when you go out. Keep the surface open so as to pass air on the skin which becomes wet after the nappy pad is taken out. ;
Follow these simple potty training tips and make the toddler learn it gradually as it is not an immediate process. Keep the area clean to avoid bacterial infections and maintain baby hygiene.
