Indian Foods To Avoid During Pregnancy
Indian food is said to be the best in the world. It is a cuisine that is mixed with a ton of spices, which is actually good for the health. However, there are certain Indian foods that may not be suitable for a pregnant woman.
Indian foods that contain acids and artificial ingredients should be a must-avoid food for the pregnant ladies. However, if you have a liking towards Indian food, you can always opt for foods that are nourishing and enriching like dals, rasam, white rice, certain lentil dishes, etc.
These few foods mentioned above have the required proteins and vitamins to help keep you healthy during the nine months of pregnancy. However, if you take a look at the seven Indian foods mentioned below, you will understand why we suggest you not to consume these foods and avoid them duing pregnancy.
In some cases, doctors would suggest you to consume the foods, since most of them do have a certain amount of properties that would help in the growth of the foetus. But, at the same time, it would be better off if you avoid these Indian foods during pregnancy. Take a look at this list and make sure you delete these foods from your diet if you are an expecting mother.
Meat:
It is best to stick to lean meat at the time of pregnancy, as it is more healthier and contains less fat when compared to meats like beef, mutton and pork. Gaining pregnancy weight is unhealthy for you as well as for the foetus, so it is best to avoid this Indian food.
Eggs:
Doctors suggest that eggs should be eaten rarely at the time of pregnancy. Eggs are healthy no doubt, but they do have harmful bacteria that may cause a problem for the growing foetus.
Handful Of Salads:
Salads are good to consume, but not during pregnancy. Avoid pre-packaged or pre-prepared salads, including fruit salad, which can be quite harmful for the foetus during the gestation period.
Sea Food:
Sea food has its own share of health benefits. But, sea foods like mackeral have a high content of mercury that is extremely harmful for the baby's brain development. It is best to control your sea food intake and only stick to lean meats that are high in protein and are healthy.
Raw Veggies:
Raw vegetables should be removed from your pregnancy diet. Consuming raw vegetables is dangerous, as you will also be swallowing a lot of bacteria that is breeding in between the crevices of raw vegetables.
Drinks:
Alcohol will destroy your placental formation, resulting in an abnormal growth of the baby. So, stay miles away from alcoholic drinks as well as aerated ones.
Coffee:
Doctors advise not to drink coffee because of its rich presence of caffeine that is not good for the foetus. Hence, stay away from these Indian foods if you are a pregnant woman.
