During pregnancy, a lot of changes may take place in a woman's body. Skin problems are the most obvious changes that happen during pregnancy.

Stretch Marks: Stretch marks are common in pregnancy. It is usually noticed on the belly, hips and thighs. Even though there is no complete treatment for stretch marks, it can be reduced by exercising and applying lotions that contain vitamin A.
Varicose Veins: Varicose lines appear as purple and blue lines on the legs during pregnancy. It is caused by the extra blood flow. It could be painful and may cause discomfort. It can be prevented by consuming foods rich in vitamin C, and keeping a check on extra weight also helps.
Acne: The production of extra hormones during pregnancy results in acne and pimples. This condition can be minimised by cleansing the skin in the morning and evening with a mild soap.
Itchy Skin: Itching in pregnancy is caused by the stretching of the skin during this period. This problem can be minimised by keeping the skin of the abdomen well moisturised. Anti-itch creams and lotions also help in giving a quick relief.
Skin Darkening: Skin darkening is common during pregnancy. It is referred to as melasma. Dark patches appear commonly on the forehead and cheeks. They are the result of high pigmentation. However, it can be prevented by applying a mild good sunscreen lotion.
