Is It Safe For Women To Take Fertility Drugs?
Wondering if taking fertility drugs is safe? Here is everything you need to know about them.
If you are a woman who has been trying to get pregnant for a while now, and you are considering fertility treatments, you may be wondering if taking fertility drugs is safe, right?
Well, the advent of modern medicine has made many things possible for humans, especially when it comes to health.
May be a few decades ago, when a woman was unable to get pregnant and the doctors found that it was due to certain health complications, there was nothing much they could do about it.
However, now, medical science has advanced so much that infertility can be quite easily fixed, thus helping a couple become parents.
Scientists have discovered numerous fertility drugs that can help a woman get pregnant and also try to correct certain defects present in her uterus, vagina or even fix hormonal imbalances.
So, a lot of women these days opt for fertility treatments to enable them to get pregnant, which involves taking fertility drugs.
So, are fertility drugs really safe? Here are a few reasons why you should be very careful before taking fertility drugs.

1. Ovarian Hyper-Stimulation
Fertility drugs may not be safe because, in some cases, they can over-stimulate the ovaries, in order to increase fertility, causing a disorder known as ovarian hyper-stimulation, in which case the ovaries swell up and start to secrete fluids.

2. Multiple Pregnancies
Fertility drugs can increase the chances of multiple pregnancies at the same time due to the multiple eggs fertilised and cases of premature births and still-births are more common when it comes to multiple pregnancies.

3. Ovarian Failure
Fertility drugs may not be safe to be consumed because they can cause a condition known as ovarian failure, in which the number of eggs a woman can produces each time can drastically decrease.

4. Premature Menopause
Long-term consumption of fertility drugs can also lead to premature menopause, as fertility drugs that induce ovulation can cause hormonal imbalances.

5. Ovarian Cancer
A research study has claimed that women who have been taking fertility drugs for a long time are at an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer.

6. Depression
As we may know, fertility drugs can cause a lot of hormonal imbalances in the body, causing psychological ailments like depression and anxiety.

7. Weight Gain
Fertility drugs can be harmful because they can lead to excess weight gain issues due to hormonal imbalances and water retention.
