Scientists Devise New Therapy For Brain Degeneration
Check out for the new therapy that helps improve brain degeneration.
Neurodegenerative disorders like parkinson's, alzheimer's and lewy body disease can have a possible treatment now.
According to a new research, a single injection of a fragment of a life-extending protein hormone could improve cognition in those with neurodegenerative illnesses.
A new study carried out by scientists at the University of California, San Francisco found that the klotho protein was found to enhance cognitive and physical performance in aging or impaired mice. The study was recently published in the journal - Cell Reports.
Neuro degeneration involves the progressive loss of nerve structure and function and this is common among those suffering from conditions like parkinson's, alzheimer's, lewy body disease and also huntington's.

About the Study:
During the study, young mice treated with the hormone for four consecutive days showed markedly improved cognitive function, benefits that lasted more than two weeks. Ageing mice showed improvements in just two days following a single shot of the treatment.
What The Researchers Say:
According to the lead author Dena Dubal the treatment with a klotho fragment enhances brain function across the lifespan and could represent a new therapeutic strategy to boost brain resilience against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
However, the researchers further pointed that clinical studies would be necessary to determine the safety and effectiveness of injecting klotho in humans.
