Samay Raina has spent the past few months doing something most celebrities try to avoid: publicly shutting down two separate dating rumours within the space of three months. First it was fellow comedian Sharon Verma. Now it's 12th Fail actor Medha Shankr. How The Sharon Verma Dating Rumours Began

Sharon Verma, who had appeared as a contestant on the show's first season, returned in the new season as a panellist alongside Orry and Archana Puran Singh. During one episode, Raina joked about Verma's Bihari roots. She hit back with a joke about his Kashmiri background.

The exchange between the two comedians, involving jokes about Bihar and Kashmir, went on to draw criticism from political leaders across parties. But long before the political backlash, it was the on-screen chemistry that caught fans' attention first. Their playful banter, frequent eye contact and easy rapport got social media users sharing romantic edits of the two on Instagram, and the dating rumours followed soon after.

Raina addressed it directly during an Instagram "Ask Me Anything" session, where he had asked fans to send in "genuine questions only." When a fan asked if he was dating Verma, his answer was short.

"No brother, just internet doing its thing," he said.

That was that. No follow up, no clarification post, just one line during a casual Q&A, and the rumour largely died down from there.

The Medha Shankr Wedding Buzz

The second round of speculation traces back to India's Got Latent Season 2 as well, where Medha Shankr appeared as a guest. Fans immediately picked up on the chemistry between her and Raina, and the pair started showing up together at public events and, according to some social media users, on a Switzerland holiday.

The buzz escalated sharply after an anonymous Reddit post claimed the two were headed for marriage. The poster claimed to be close to Raina's family and said they had spoken to his mother about his relationship with Shankr, adding that a wedding was being planned for December 2026. The post was later deleted, though screenshots continued to circulate.

Raina's response arrived on Instagram on a Sunday, and it was, once again, a joke rather than a denial. Sharing the post about the alleged wedding, he wrote, "December mein toh mera India Tour hai, Sorry Medha will have to postpone," setting the message to Lata Mangeshkar's Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate in the background, a song whose title translates to "crows lie."

Shankr responded in kind. She reshared his story with laughing emojis, then posted a meme captioned "Me scrolling past all the baseless wedding rumours like." Neither of them has confirmed or denied dating at any point through this cycle; they have simply mocked the idea of an imminent wedding.

The Pattern Fans Have Noticed

What has kept this story alive on social media isn't just the rumours themselves; it's the contrast in how Raina handled each one. Several social media users pointed out that Raina never directly addressed the dating buzz around Shankr the way he shut down the Verma rumour, and were quick to read something into that gap.

Whether that gap means anything or not, both rumours share the same ending: humour over confirmation, and no official word on his relationship status either way.
