Sometimes you walk into your office and just know that something is wrong. Your colleagues give you the cold vibes and you realise that your boss is giving you the cold shoulder. Now, there are many reasons your boss avoids you. But whatever these reasons are, it can really make your life hell. If you have been on good terms with your boss and then suddenly he or she starts ignoring you, you have reasons to worry. Your boss ignores you for a number of different reasons.
Working in an atmosphere where your boss hates and ignores you can be embarrassing. Sometimes, it can lead to public humiliation when you say something and your boss pretends as if you do not exist. You did something to piss him/her off
The most obvious reason for getting the cold shoulder from your boss would be that you did something to piss him or her off. The easiest way to find out would be to go to your boss when he or she is alone and ask openly. This might lead to a confrontation, but it will give you the chance to present your side of the story.
Stinking email
You boss has the birth right to send stinking emails to you. But you do not have the right to give stinging replies to him/her. Let us face it guys, boss is always right and stinkers can be sent only by bosses. May be your harsh replies to emails are why your boss avoids you.
Bitching and gossiping
Are you part of a group in office that openly criticises your boss? You may not have said anything against your boss, but being part of this group will go against you. Better to stay away from people who are digging their own grave, lest you fall into it.
Causing insecurity?
Are you getting too close to your boss these days? Have you been trying to outdo your boss in team meetings? This can make your boss insecure about his or her position in the company. It is better not to rub shoulders with your boss lest it angers your immediate reporting head. You don't want that to be the reason your boss hates you.
Increments
Before the increments are due, your boss will ignore everyone. This is standard procedure so that no one tries to curry favour with the boss and get better increments. So there is no cause for worry. It is a phase and it will pass.
