'World No Tobacco Day', What is Your Step In It?
Today, the 31st of May marks, 'World No Tobacco Day'! There are a number of people from around the world who are suffering with multiple diseases due to smoking and other forms of Tobacco.
In our country alone, around 70% of the population are from the rural areas where the consumption of tobacco is of a higher range. People in the rural areas are unaware of the problems of Tobacco and due to their illiteracy, they are indulging in hookah, smoking bidis, which in other words is a way for them to pass time without knowing the ill effects. If only the Government take steps and educate the people in the rural areas on smoking and chewing Tobacco, on this 'World No Tobacco Day', we will be able to see a major difference in the future.
Coming to the Urban Society, the number of people who are indulging in this bad habit are soon to increase the number of diseases like Oral Cancer, lip cancer, lung cancer, peridontal disease, higher risk of heart attacks etc.
Some of the health effects which are caused due to chewing Tobacco is that of bad breath which indeed is a real turn off to people, chewing tobacco effects the eating habits too as it damages the tongue, jaws and lips. The other health effects of chewing tobacco is that it leads to tooth decay, where the leaves form into plague and bacteria between the teeth thus forming loose gums.
The health effects of Smoking Tobacco is equally dangerous. As the urban society, indulges in more of smoking, here are some of the effects you should be aware of this 'World No Tobacco Day'. You should first keep in mind that If you are a smoker, your life span has just decreased! Smoking Tobacco, also reduces Vitamin A in the body, thus leading to early ageing!
To mark this treat to human lives all around the world, Hospitals in Chennai have marked the 'World No Tobacco Day' through a number of rallies which have been carried out, placards too are seen right across through the nation, educating people that smoking is bad for health. If you are a smoker, here is your chance to quit and thus lead an example for others to carry on.
Note : 'One cigarette contains around 4,000 chemicals, out of which 50 cause the deadly disease, 'Cancer'. If we do not take this seriously today, on this 'World No Tobacco Day', to stop this bad habit, we are bound to see that Tobacco will bring about a death rise of 80 lakh from 50 lakh, by the year 2030!'
