Calling an overweight kid obese makes the child feel bad. He or she might just loose confidence and become an introvert. Fearing all possible negative consequences, the term 'obese' is set to be banned in Liverpool.

"The term offends fat children and therefore its usage should be banned," says Town Hall Bureaucrats. According to council bosses, the word has too many negative connotations.

The term obese will be replaced with 'having an unhealthy appetite.'

The first proposal to ban the word 'obese' first came from a School's Parliament in Liverpool. The School's parliament is made up of students who fight for the right of students and children.

"The idea is that obesity has a negative connotation behind it and therefore we want to ban its usage," said Co-ordinator Jeff Dunn. It is seen that most of the overweight children are depressed and ashamed of their appearance. They do not make friends and are generally less confident.

Nearly, half of pre-teen kids (about 40 per cent) are overweight. Out of this 40 per cent 30 per cent feel conscious and shy about the way they look. Calling them obese is seen as an offensive remark.

“All the young people"s recommendations will be considered and steps will be taken to ban the word," said the Liverpool City Council spokesman.
