Recession Can Lead To Workplace Aggression

Recession
As the recession forces more and more companies to fire employees, a workplace aggression expert has suggested that employers should tailor the bad news in a way that will minimises the after effects on the employee. The company's decision to downsize creates a hostile atmosphere and creates a fear and tension among all the employees. It changes the perception of people. Instead of 'we' as a company people start thinking as 'us' and 'them'.

While downsizing, the managers should be watchful of employers who exhibit a hostile attitude. The company should try to understand an employee's personality, specially those who have a tendency to blame others for anything that goes wrong in their lives. If there is a need to lay off such kind of a person, its important to be very explicit. Even handling a person who seems to be calm, its best to be as candid as possible,

Remember, if the bad news is not given in the proper manner, it can give rise to anger and resentment. So, its wise to be kind and respectful, but also as candid as possible.
