Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis, Social Activist, Was The Idea Behind This!
She was a social activist who organised events called Mothers' Day Work Clubs to reduce infant mortality. In these events, doctors were invited to hold discussions with mothers so as to know how they could keep their children healthy and educate them with latest practices of hygiene and sanitation as well.

This Was A Regular Prayer Of Ann For Her Social Activist Mom
"I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mother's day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life."

The Origin Of This Day…
Anna Jarvis is recognised as the woman who invented Mother's Day in America. She held a memorial for her mother Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis in West Virginia in 1908.

It Became The Official Day In 1911
Anna Jarvis and her supporters sent letters to those high up in positions of power and asked for an official holiday to honour mothers. This day was celebrated in almost every state of the US in the year 1911.

On May 8, 1914….
On this day, the then President Woodrow Wilson signed a joint resolution document which confirmed that every second Sunday in May would be celebrated as Mother's Day.
