Breast Cancer Awareness: Celebs Who Care

October is also known as the Breast Cancer Awareness month or the Pink Ribbon month across the world. Needless to say that a lot of work is being done in the public realm to make women aware of breast cancer. It is a disease that kills millions of women every year although it is easily curable if detected at the early stages. This means that breast cancer awareness is the only way to beat this disease.

Celebrities always play a very important role when it comes to awareness campaigns. Many Bollywood celebrities have come forward to do their bit this month. One of the most hotly debated topic of the month is the controversial advertisement campaign done by Mandira Bedi.

Many other Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities have come out to support the fight against breast cancer. Hrithik Roshan along with wife Sussanne attended the premeire of a documentary made on the survivors of breast cancer. Lisa Ray who is a survivor of bone marrow cancer herself campaigns for Lifecell Femme; an organisation that extracts stem cells from menstrual blood and uses it to cure cancer.

Shilpa Shetty is the latest addition to the list of Bollywood celebrities who is supporting the spreading the awareness Breast Cancer with the Pink Ribbon. She was seen sporting a pink tunic during the Elle Breast Cancer Campaign. Some of the other prominent celebrities seen in this event were Kiron Kher, Preeti Jhangiyani, Gul Panag and Samir Soni.

Hollywood too is not far behind when it comes to campaigning about breast checkups. Elizabeth Hurley is the brand Estee Lauder. She came up with a special pink coloured Liz Hurley lipstick to raise awareness about breast cancer.
