Bigg Boss 20 Premiere Date Out: Salman Khan's Karan Arjun Tease Sparks SRK Buzz
A horse. A black outfit. And one line from a 1995 blockbuster.
That was all it took for Bigg Boss 20 to trend within minutes of its first promo going live. JioHotstar and Colors confirmed on Tuesday that the reality show's landmark twentieth season will premiere on 6 September 2026, with Salman Khan returning as host for what the makers are calling his most mysterious season yet.
The premiere date wasn't the headline, though. That belonged to nine words Salman delivered straight to camera: "Jo Karan Arjun mein hua tha, woh hoga ab Bigg Boss mein... Thathastu!" - a direct callback to his 1995 film Karan Arjun, in which his character was reborn to reunite with on-screen brother Shah Rukh Khan.
The Tease That Broke The Internet
The 15-second promo opens with Salman making a cinematic entry on horseback, dressed in black, before the Karan Arjun line lands. The caption accompanying it read simply, "Ek se bhale do.." - two are better than one - alongside the premiere announcement.
Since Karan Arjun starred both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, many fans believe the dialogue could be hinting at a special appearance by Shah Rukh during the new season, though there has been no official confirmation of his involvement. Some viewers read it differently: a few have speculated that Salman's dialogue could instead be pointing to the arrival of a co-host, or a special collaboration between the two stars at the grand premiere.
Salman himself has kept it deliberately vague. "Every season of Bigg Boss brings a fresh game, new dynamics and unexpected twists," he said of the new season, without giving away what the Karan Arjun reference actually means.
A House Built By New Hands
The season is also bringing a complete revamp of the Bigg Boss house design - set designer Omung Kumar and his wife Vanita Garud Kumar, who have shaped the house for several years, are not returning this time. Art directors Kanchan and Rupali, previously behind the reality show The 50, have taken over.
The rollout itself is also new: the season will follow a dual-platform strategy, streaming on JioHotstar at 9 pm nightly before airing on Colors TV at 10:30 pm, marking what is being described as JioStar's biggest-ever Bigg Boss launch. Production house Banijay Asia is reportedly also planning to launch all six regional-language editions of Bigg Boss during the same festive period.
Who Might Walk Into The House
An official contestant list hasn't dropped yet, but names are already doing the rounds. Reports suggest the makers have approached Mahhi Vij, Geeta Basra, Jannat Zubair, Faisal Shaikh (Mr Faisu), Sunil Pal, Nia Sharma, Pearl V Puri and Showik Chakraborty for the new season. None of this is confirmed, and the makers appear content to let the guessing games run for now - the teaser was deliberately kept short, revealing only a few details and leaving fans curious about the contestants, the format, and the mystery Salman hinted at.
Online, the theories are already splitting three ways: some viewers think the season could bring back former contestants, others expect a stunt-based format closer to Khatron Ke Khiladi, while a third camp is convinced only past players will compete this time.
