As anticipation builds for the milestone season, the tentative contestant list has begun to take shape, with the new season reportedly set to premiere on 21 September and Salman Khan expected to return as host. While Colors TV and producers Endemol Shine India have maintained their signature silence, social media has been anything but quiet.

The Host Everyone Was Waiting To Hear About

For longtime fans of the franchise, the most pressing question was never about the contestants - it was about the man on the stage.

Several media reports confirm that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to return as the host of Bigg Boss 20. According to trade reports, Salman's scheduling team has carved out a dedicated window starting this autumn, with production insiders revealing that he is expected to shoot the grand premiere episode around 21 September 2026. Before that, he is likely to complete filming a major chunk of his upcoming action thriller directed by Vamsi Paidipally, which also features Nayanthara in the female lead.

The Social Media Names Leading The Speculation

Interestingly, Bigg Boss 20 is rumoured to have an "old vs fresh faces" theme, which could see a mix of former contestants and new celebrities entering the house. Producers have reportedly reached out to reality-show stars, digital creators, and television personalities, as well as some former participants, with names from Splitsvilla, Lock Upp, and Roadies doing the rounds.

Faisal Shaikh - better known as Mr Faisu - tops a lot of lists. With his loyal Gen-Z following, he is widely considered an obvious choice for the makers. He has participated in Celebrity MasterChef, hosted Loventure on JioHotstar, and commands 33.6 million followers on Instagram.

Entering alongside him, if the rumours hold, could be his close friend and digital actress Jannat Zubair. The duo has shared screen space in numerous music videos, and their real-life camaraderie would offer an immediate, organic storyline inside the house. Zubair has 51.4 million followers on Instagram and previously appeared in the film Hichki, as well as placing fourth on Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12.

Anjali Arora is another name generating buzz - she finished as second runner-up in Kangana Ranaut's Lock Upp, behind winner Munawar Faruqui and runner-up Payal Rohatgi.

The Names Flying Under The Radar

One of the more exciting names doing the rounds is Kushal Tanwar - better known as Gullu. The content creator from Gurugram won MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross in 2025 and followed it up by winning MTV Splitsvilla 16 alongside his partner Kaira Anu. Having conquered two of MTV's biggest reality formats back-to-back, a Bigg Boss entry would be the natural next step - and fans are already rooting for it.

Uorfi Javed, who briefly appeared in Bigg Boss OTT 1, is another name everyone is watching. If she returns and lasts a full season, expect headlines.

Rapper Santy Sharma - real name Ganesh Sharma - gained recognition with his Bollywood debut in Housefull 5 and grabbed attention for his remarks on the viral Cockroach Janta Party trend. He is among the earlier names to surface for the upcoming season.

Television actress Ridhima Gupta sparked speculation during an Instagram AMA session when a fan asked when she would appear on Bigg Boss - and she responded saying she was "on the way." Other names reportedly doing the rounds include Arbaz Patel, Bhagirath Bhatt, Bhavya Singh, Ruru Thakur, and Tushar Karwar.

Despite the growing speculation, the show's makers have not released an official contestant list, and none of the rumoured names has been confirmed. That is unlikely to slow the conversation.
